Remember that your shapes, when used, are just going to re-combine into new and wonderful shapes anyway, so whether or not they represent something on their own is (probably) of minimal importance.ģA. Unlike some of the existing Pull Shapes included with Alchemy, such as Bones for example, shapes can be as simple as some drawn-out squiggley lines, small doodles you make while talking on the phone, or simple blobs, or more complex shapes are good too. I'd also like to add that shapes, really, can be pretty much whatever you want, and needn't be complicated at all.

If your shapes are too close together for your liking (which may be the case especially if you're using shapes that you found), then once you've completed Step 7, you should be able to use the arrow tool to click and drag them around to put some space between them. Before you make your shapes: Though not at all necessary, I've found it saves time if you make all your shapes around the same size, and leave adequate space around each separate shape "entity" so that they're not too close to your other shapes - if you feel you could comfortably draw an imaginary rectangle around each shape without that rectangle touching any of your other shapes, you're golden. NOTE: This tutorial was made with Inkscape 0.48, so if you're using a different version number, there's a chance these instructions may vary slightly from what you actually need to do, but I imagine that they'll at least be similar.Ģ. There are a number of ways to do this, I suppose. Once you have Inkscape downloaded and installed, you'll need some shapes to work with. Pretty much like installing any ol' program.

Now, this could also be done with something like Adobe Illustrator, but really, I'd say it's just as easy with Inkscape, and Inkscape is a FREE download, so yeah, why not?

I'd asked in a previous topic about how to make Pull Shapes for Alchemy with Inkscape.Īfter some fiddling around, I think I've figured it out, at least on a basic level, so I figured I'd share, as it's reasonably easy to do, and I don't think i even need to provide a video or images to guide you through the process. (Let me know if any of you find this useful at all.) I swear this is a super easy process, and it's reasonably quick to do once you get the hang of it. The exported image will appear in the specified folder.NOTE: These instructions may LOOK lengthy and complicated, but I only wrote them this way so as to be as foolproof as possible. When you’re happy with the settings, click ‘Export’. On the right of your screen, a menu appears that allows you to change some settings (or leave them as they are). To save your finished drawing, hide your photo layer (Layer 1) in the Layers panel and choose File > Export PNG Image. Also useful, the shortcut for Undo is Ctrl + Z. With the second black arrow (‘Edit paths by nodes’) you can edit your nodes. You can edit the line width afterwards by selecting your line with the black arrow (top icon in the vertical bar) and changing the settings accordingly. To create an open path, place your nodes and press Enter. Here you can also select whether to measure the width in mm, px, etc. Click to place nodes (‘anchor points’ in Illustrator), click and drag to create nodes with handles attached to them.Īfter creating a closed path, at the bottom left of your screen, it says ‘Stroke’ and a certain line width.

This allows you to do somewhat similar vector lines as the Pen Tool in Illustrator. In the vertical tool bar, there is a tool that says ‘Draw Bezier curves and straight lines’ when you hover your mouse over it. You can zoom in (select magnifying glass, click on your canvas) and out (hold down Shift while clicking). Lock Layer 1 by clicking on the padlock icon.
